Door County Historical Society Invites Community to Celebrate June 26
Fish Creek, WI — The Door County Historical Society (DCHS) is proud to announce the Grand Opening Celebration of Eagle Bluff Light Station on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This milestone event marks the completion of an extensive restoration and reconstruction project that began in 2024.
The project restored the historic lighthouse, oil house, and privy, and reconstructed the barn and summer kitchen—returning the site to its appearance during the Duclon era (1883–1918), when William Duclon served as light keeper. Duclon lived at the station year-round with his wife Julia and their seven sons, making the lighthouse not just a navigational aid, but a family home.
This historically accurate restoration allows visitors to step back in time and experience daily life at the lighthouse as it once was—gaining a deeper understanding of the people who kept the light burning and the critical role the station played in guiding ships safely through the waters of Door County.
“Restoring Eagle Bluff Light Station was about more than preserving buildings—it was about preserving stories,” said Amy Frank, Executive Director of the Door County Historical Society. “By focusing on the Duclon family era, we are able to bring history to life in a meaningful and immersive way. Visitors will not only see the lighthouse—they will understand what it meant to live and work here, and why this place matters to the history of Door County.”
The Door County Historical Society extends its sincere gratitude to the many donors, grantors, skilled workers, and dedicated volunteers whose support and hard work made this project possible.
The Grand Opening Celebration will feature a formal presentation at 11:00 a.m., with remarks from representatives of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Door County Historical Society, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Governor’s Office.
