  • Door County YMCA’s Jackie and Steve Kane Center entrance will be renovated to create a warm and welcoming lounge area where Northern Door residents can gather and benefit from increased socialization and communal activities.
  • Sunshine Resource’s Sunflower Cottage, a state-certified senior day service program, provides safe, compassionate care for Door County seniors and their caregivers needing respite. This grant will help with funding for a Northern Door expansion.
  • Unity Hospice will provide Supportive Care Management services for older Door County adults living with serious or chronic illnesses. The program provides a personalized care plan and home visits that help individuals manage illness and remain safely at home.
  • Washington Island Community Health Program will hold informational lunches on health, safety and other educational presentations featuring community partners. These events help older residents be better prepared to live independently and safely, as well as provide important socialization opportunities from fall to spring.

“The committee felt that these projects truly aligned with our mission,” said Susan Hoffert, President of the SCAND Board of Directors. “These are projects that make a broad impact, helping provide much needed services for working people and seniors in Door County.”
