Cinch Home Services: La Crosse named one of America’s fastest home-selling markets

  • La Crosse is named the seventh-best area in America to sell your home fast, with the typical home snapped up in just 8.50 days

·   Across Wisconsin as a whole, homes take an average of 26.97 days to go under contract

·     Rockport, Texas, is the worst place in the US to sell your home quickly

New data has revealed the best metro areas in America to sell your house quickly.

The research, by home warranty experts Cinch Home Services, analyzed median days to pending data from Zillow for all metro areas in the US. For each metro, the annual average of 2025 was calculated to determine the ranking.

The top 10 best areas to sell your house fast

Rank Metro area State Average days from listing to pending
Lancaster Pennsylvania 6.58
Springfield Illinois 6.92
Bloomington Illinois 7.00
Rockford Illinois 7.17
Hartford Connecticut 7.83
Harrisburg Pennsylvania 8.42
La Crosse Wisconsin 8.50
8 Manchester New Hampshire 8.58
9 Lewiston Maine 8.82
10 York Pennsylvania 8.83

Wisconsin’s findings

La Crosse is seventh, with homes taking an average of 8.50 days to go from listing to under contract. May is the single best month for a quick sale, with homes finding a buyer in five days. January is the worst month, taking an average of 15 days to sell. The median sale price for houses in the area is $261,667.

Out of the 10 metros in Wisconsin included in the ranking, houses in Appleton take the longest to sell, at an average of 42.40 days.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for Cinch Home Services said, “Homes tend to sell fastest in markets where demand consistently outpaces supply, particularly in mid-sized metro areas with relatively affordable prices and stable local employment. Many of the fastest-selling locations identified in this analysis benefit from a limited number of listings, which creates competition among buyers and pushes properties under contract quickly.

“Seasonality also plays a major role. Spring and early summer are traditionally the strongest periods for home sales, as better weather, school calendars, and longer daylight hours encourage buyers to act quickly. In contrast, winter months often see slower activity as fewer buyers are actively searching, which helps explain why December consistently appears as the slowest month across many markets.

“For sellers, pricing realistically, presenting the home well, and listing during peak months can significantly reduce the time it takes to secure a buyer, even in less competitive markets.”
