Grants awarded to 138 organizations across Iowa and Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. (April 9, 2026) – In its first Community Grant cycle of the year, Alliant Energy and the Alliant Energy Foundation awarded over $638,000 to various causes and nonprofits across Iowa and Wisconsin.
“Alliant Energy and the Alliant Energy Foundation continue to build strong communities by investing in organizations that make a difference where we live and work,” said Andy Kitslaar, executive director of the Alliant Energy Foundation. “Centered on serving our customers, our intentional approach to giving focuses on key areas that help nonprofit partners create both immediate and lasting impact. Our Community Grants support the important work happening across Iowa and Wisconsin. The dedication Alliant Energy has to its customers is reflected through the Foundation and the 138 organizations we’ve supported so far this year.”
All Community Grant recipients seek to make an impact in Alliant Energy’s four focus areas: Community safety and engagement, environmental stewardship, workforce readiness and hunger and housing.
Community safety and engagement: Improvements for emergency services and nearly $130,000 in grants covered 30 communities for many first response organizations including police and fire/EMS departments as they plan for vital new or upgraded equipment. Support will also be provided to initiatives that bring communities together such as special events like fairs and building playgrounds.
Hunger and housing: Clothing, household needs as well as food pantry support including food delivery and meal outreach programs were awarded $81,000 in grants in 15 communities. Organizations focused on emergency shelter support, transition and permanent housing and transportation were also included in these grant opportunities.
Environmental stewardship: Protecting wildlife spaces, planting trees and prairies including creating and protecting habitats received grants of nearly $324,000 in 13 communities. Alliant Energy also supports public education, workshops and school programs focused on environmental issues, endangered species and wildlife protection as well as updated park and trail projects.
Workforce readiness: To aid in the development of a solid workforce and attract future employees, over $93,000 in grants were awarded to 20 communities for youth agriculture programs, school gardens, farm education and innovation, as well as libraries and bookmobiles, STEM programming, workshops and festivals.
The Alliant Energy Foundation is governed by a board of directors consisting of officers of Alliant Energy Corporation or its subsidiaries, which periodically reviews grant program guidelines.
