After nearly a month-long pause, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin announced they will resume their abortion services.
To continue its abortion operations, Planned Parenthood gave up its designation as an “essential community provider” under the Affordable Care Act. This move was clearly aimed at sidestepping the Big Beautiful Bill Act which restricts Medicaid funding from going to organizations that perform abortions.
The Hyde Amendment prohibits the use of federal funds for abortions, a stance consistent with the views of most Americans. President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill Act was designed to reinforce this by preventing abortion providers from receiving federal tax dollars, since taxpayer funding subsidizes operations and infrastructure that allow their abortion business to continue.
In response, Heather Weininger, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life shared, “Planned Parenthood’s abortion-first business model underscores why taxpayer funding should never support organizations that make abortion a priority. Women in difficult circumstances deserve compassionate, life-affirming care — the kind of support the pro-life movement is committed to offering.”
