Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities: Beloit College joins statewide transfer agreement between Wisconsin private colleges and Wisconsin Technical College

Madison, Wis. – Students seeking to transfer credits from any of Wisconsin’s 16 technical colleges to Beloit College will have a much easier time in the future.

This month, Beloit joins 16 Wisconsin private, nonprofit colleges and universities participating in the WAICU-WTCS Course Credit Transfer Agreement between the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) and the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS).

According to Beloit College President Eric Boynton, “Beloit College is proud to partner with the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) in a course-to-course agreement with Wisconsin’s 16 Technical Colleges. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transfer process for students from Wisconsin Technical Colleges who wish to continue their education at Beloit College, and we welcome these students with open arms.”

More than a dozen popular introductory courses are included in the agreement, such as chemistry, psychology, and speech. Under the agreement, specified technical college credits will count toward requirements for a bachelor’s degree at Beloit College, provided the student earned a grade of “C” or better within the last ten years. Technical college students must also meet Beloit’s admissions requirements.

“WAICU is pleased that Beloit has joined this opportunity that opens doors for more students to earn bachelor’s degrees in Wisconsin,” said WAICU President Eric W. Fulcomer, . “Beloit’s addition is important as the state strives to increase the level of educational attainment and meet the needs of the Wisconsin workforce today and in the future.”

“The inclusion of Beloit College in the course-to-course transfer agreement broadens access to high quality baccalaureate education for students across the state,” said WTCS President Layla Merrifield. “Our colleges’ partnerships with other educational institutions offer valuable opportunities to support students in their educational pursuits.”

The ability to smoothly transfer credits provides more flexibility for students, including those who wish to start their college career close to home, as well as nontraditional students who are already in the workforce and wish to further their careers with bachelor’s degrees. The agreement paves the way for an educational experience that is more efficient and simpler to navigate, while shortening the time to graduation and reducing college costs.
