UW-Stevens Point: Chancellor search and screen committee named

MADISON, Wis.—Amy B. Bogost, President of the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents, and Jay Rothman, President of the Universities of Wisconsin, have appointed an 11-member Search and Screen Committee to help identify the next UW-Stevens Point (UWSP) chancellor.

Regent Jack Salzwedel will chair the Search and Screen Committee. Kristi Roth, Professor in the School of Education, will be the vice chair. Other members of the committee are:

  • Tom Bertram, Administrative Human Resources Coordinator
  • Michael Estanich, Professor and Department Chair, College of Fine Arts and Communication
  • Noah Fritz, Regent
  • Jennifer Hess, Associate Director, Continuing Education and Outreach
  • Pete McPartland, Chairman and CEO, Sentry Insurance
  • Caden Morschauser, President, Student Government Association
  • Joan Prince, Regent
  • Linda Terwilliger, Regent
  • Jill Underly, Regent

“UW-Stevens Point is thriving. Its students, faculty, and staff are energetic and enthusiastic,” Bogost said. “We’re looking for a leader that will build on the university’s current momentum and continue its focus on enrollment growth, prudent financial management, and most importantly, student success.”

UW-Stevens Point enrolls more than 8,500 students across three campuses and offers nearly 100 undergraduate and graduate programs, including nationally recognized offerings in Natural Resources, Fine Arts, and Health and Wellness. With strong ties to regional businesses, governments, and community groups, the university is critical to economic development and quality of life in northcentral Wisconsin.

The Search and Screen Committee is expected to convene in the coming weeks when the committee will receive its charge regarding its mission and will review search procedures. A team of staff from UWSA Human Resources, the Office of the Board of Regents, and the executive search firm of Storbeck Search/DSG Global will assist the committee throughout this search process.

The committee will determine and interview candidates. After the committee has established a list of qualified candidates who merit further consideration, a Special Regent Committee will review candidates forwarded by the Search and Screen Committee, interview finalists, and forward a hiring recommendation for consideration by the Board of Regents. The Special Regent Committee will include Regents Salzwedel, Fritz, Prince, Terwilliger, and Underly and will be chaired by Salzwedel.

The successful candidate will require the approval of the full Board of Regents.
