UW-Milwaukee School of Continuing Education: Launches new non-credit microcredentials to help professionals quickly build in-demand skills

MILWAUKEE, WI, July 29, 2025 – The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) School of Continuing Education is now offering a series of non-credit microcredentials designed to help professionals quickly gain essential skills to launch, change or advance their careers.

These short, focused programs offer flexible learning opportunities that align with real-world needs, helping professionals increase their value in the workplace without the time commitment of a full degree or certificate program. Topics range from technical tools like Python to power skills like communication and teamwork.

Current microcredential offerings:

Python — A comprehensive introduction to Python programming, tailored for data analysis and business applications

Team Dynamics — Essential skills for fostering effective teamwork, emphasizing concepts such as psychological safety and trust-building

Professional Presentations — Techniques for delivering impactful presentations, including crafting compelling narratives and conveying information clearly

English for Health Care Providers — English communication skills for bilingual Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students, better preparing them for employment, job interviews and team collaboration

What’s the difference between a microcredential and a certificate?

Both microcredentials and certificates are skill-building credentials tailored to professional goals, but microcredentials are shorter, more targeted and designed to deliver immediate value. UWM’s microcredentials range from 10 to 53 total learning hours and are taught by industry experts with real-world experience.

Most courses that make up microcredentials are offered live online, and all are open to the public. No applications are required. Learn more and explore microcredential options at: uwm.edu/sce.
