The claim: “They are cutting [Medicaid] in order to pay for massive tax breaks, for the very wealthy, and big corporations.” — U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin on the federal budget reconciliation bill, also known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill”
Reality: Sen. Baldwin and liberals in Wisconsin and across the country have been authoring a scare campaign in opposition to the budget bill working its way through Congress. You wouldn’t know it by listening to Baldwin, but the bill would simply extend current tax law. And Medicaid? No cuts to those who truly deserve the assistance, just a requirement that working age, childless adults start working, volunteering or going to school at least 20 hours a month — by the end of next year.
In Depth: Watch Congressman Tom Tiffany break down the falsehoods coming from Sen. Baldwin and other Democrats about the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
