St. Paul Elder Services: Welcomes Aaron Hunnel as director of resource development and engagement

KAUKAUNA, Wis(June 11, 2025) St. Paul Elder Services (SPES), a community dedicated to enriching the life experience of the individuals it serves, is proud to announce the addition of Aaron Hunnel as its new director of resource development and engagement. As director of resource development and engagement, Hunnel will lead fundraising and culture-building efforts, helping SPES to continue to grow in its mission to deliver exceptional, dignified care and community engagement.

Hunnel recently retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service, where he served as director of wellness and resilience for the Wisconsin National Guard. He delivered culture and wellness strategies to over 6,200 service members and secured more than $8 million in funding. His program emphasized toughness and teamwork and delivered a formula for building trust and solving problems, making him the perfect fit for SPES’ culture of excellence.

“After years of national service, it’s important to me that I dedicate my return home not only to being with my family, but also to strengthening our community,” said Hunnel. “Being part of a mission-aligned organization like St. Paul Elder Services has given me the opportunity to work toward that goal with a driven, like-minded team.”

Hunnel is a Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) Top 25 National Wellness Professional and a Fox Cities Future 15 award recipient; he has partnered with various nonprofits including Project Echelon, Team Triumph and Hooah Wisconsin. He earned his Master of Science in Organizational Change Leadership from UW-Platteville and his Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from UW-Stevens Point.
