Port of Green Bay: November tonnage totals

(Green Bay, Wis.) – The Port of Green Bay moved 159,536 tons of cargo through in November. This is approximately 5% higher than November 2024’s totals, marking a strong position as the 2025 shipping season approaches its final months.

The 2025 shipping season began with modest volumes, with March and April tonnage 64% below the prior year. Since then, the Port has made progress with volumes steadily recovering, with year-to-date totals now only 12% below 2024 levels. This progress places the Port within reach of annual averages, marking a strong rebound as the season has advanced.

“Cargo volumes have continued to improve as the season has progressed,” said Dean Haen, Director of the Port of Green Bay. “We’ve seen steady momentum month to month and are focused on finishing the season as strong as possible, recognizing that early winter conditions may shorten the remaining shipping window.”

In November, the Port of Green Bay moved through six total commodities. These included limestone (51,501 tons), petroleum products (48,998 tons), cement (23,625 tons), salt (16,416 tons), wood pulp (12,918 tons) and liquid asphalt (6,078 tons). 19 vessels called on the Port during the month, bringing the year-to-date total to 135 ships.

“The Port of Green Bay plays an essential role in connecting regional businesses to national and global markets through the Great Lakes,” added Dean Haen, Director of the Port of Green Bay. “Each shipment supports supply chains, industrial activity and jobs across the region, reinforcing the Port as a driver of economic growth and long-term stability for Northeastern Wisconsin.”
