Minocqua Brewing Company: Files criminal complaint against Oneida County board chairman for corruption and abuse of power

Minocqua, WI — Minocqua Brewing Company owner Kirk Bangstad has filed a criminal complaint against Oneida County Board Chairman Scott Holewinski after new sworn testimony reveals Holewinski directed other board members to time zoning enforcement against the brewery to cause maximum damage.
A signed affidavit from a former Oneida County Board Supervisor was submitted that confirms that Holewinski, after a County Board meeting on September 27, 2022, told others it would be better to “hit him [Bangstad] in the spring” when his business was open, rather than in winter when it was closed.

“That’s not just sleazy—it’s illegal,” said Bangstad. “This is a clear abuse of office, a violation of due process, and an orchestrated effort to harass a local business for political reasons.”

Bangstad submitted the affidavit along with a criminal complaint to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney, and County legal counsel.

“If I can be jailed for a bogus criminal defamation complaint pushed by the local MAGA media machine, then Holewinski can answer for using the power of his office to weaponize county zoning against a political opponent. said Bangstad.

Bangstad also called on county officials to take immediate action to restore integrity and accountability in county government.
“Oneida County is rotten to the core,” he said. “The question now is: who among you will stand up and stop this corruption?”
