NEENAH, Wis. (May 29, 2025) — McMahon, a full-service professional engineering, architectural and consulting firm, proudly shares its role in the design and completion of a new pedestrian and golf cart bridge along Road America’s front straight. Replacing a decades-old structure, the new bridge enhances accessibility and functionality while marking another project milestone in the longstanding partnership between McMahon and Road America, the iconic Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin motorsports destination.
Designed by McMahon, the new bridge accommodates both pedestrians and golf carts. Unlike its predecessor, which was limited to foot traffic and included stairs, the updated, wider design features ramped approaches, making it accessible and convenient for all guests.
“We’re proud to invest in improvements that make Road America more welcoming and convenient for everyone,” said Mike Kertscher, Road America’s president and general manager. “Replacing the iconic 1961 bridge was necessary to meet the needs of today’s visitors. Our collaboration with McMahon helped bring a modern, accessible solution that respects the history of our facility while looking to the future.”
Beyond its functionality, the new bridge serves as a fantastic viewing point where patrons can watch cars roaring out of Turn 14.
“We understand the importance of providing fans with a safe, accessible and visually exciting way to enjoy the track,” said Scott Manteuffel, McMahon construction manager. “We’re incredibly proud of our team who worked all winter to complete this project ahead of schedule and under budget, further strengthening our longstanding partnership with Road America as they celebrate the 70th anniversary race season.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday, May 27, with team members from Road America and McMahon, along with members of the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce.
