Marshfield Clinic: Oakwood Center urgent care opens Aug. 18

EAU CLAIRE – Starting Aug. 18, Marshfield Clinic Oakwood Center will provide urgent care services on weekdays, open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Marshfield Clinic made the decision to relocate urgent care services previously offered at Marshfield Medical Center-Eau Claire to Marshfield Clinic Oakwood Center (3501 Golf Road, Eau Claire) where patients already receive primary care. This move is part of our ongoing commitment to improving access, convenience and continuity of care for the Chippewa Valley.

With changes to the health care landscape in the region, the combined Emergency Department/Urgent Care in Eau Claire has seen an increased volume.

“Volumes have increased at the Marshfield Medical Center-Eau Claire Emergency Department/Urgent Care by just under 50%,” said Brandon Parkhurst, Marshfield Clinic Health System Vice President of Medical Affairs.

Changing location to Oakwood Center will allow patients easier access to care for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, minor cuts that need stitches or ear infections with a welcoming environment designed for comfort and convenience.

“Our urgent care locations provide early morning and late evening hours,” Parkhurst said. “Between two locations, Oakwood and Lake Hallie Centers, Marshfield Clinic offers patients the urgent care they need, when they need it.”

Marshfield Clinic Oakwood Center provides comprehensive urgent care services, including onsite lab and imaging capabilities. While urgent care services will transition from the current combined Emergency Department/Urgent Care site, emergency services will remain fully operational at that location for serious and life-threatening conditions.

Marshfield Clinic also has worked to expand same day access across all its clinics in western Wisconsin. This includes primary care locations in Eau Claire, but also reaches to communities such as Ladysmith, Rice Lake, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie and Cornell. Same day primary care appointments are a more cost-effective option for patients who may not need emergency services, but feel they need to be seen quickly.

Marshfield Clinic remains committed to serving western Wisconsin in a way that puts patients first every day and delivers quality care in the Chippewa Valley. As an integral part of health care in the region, we are committed to being here for our communities.
