GREEN BAY — Emplify Health by Bellin is committed to innovation and evidence-based research within healthcare. That commitment has been rewarded with a prestigious Environmental Design Research Association’s (EDRA) Certificate of Research Excellence (CORE) award presented on Thursday, May 29 at the EDRA56 conference in California.
The EDRA CORE award is given to projects that exemplify the highest standards in research methodology, innovation and the practical application of findings. Bellin’s 2023 study, which focused on the orthopedic and total join service lines at Emplify Health by Bellin’s Titletown and Marinette Clinics, compared two distinct clinic layouts: linear and pod configurations. The research team employed a mixed-methods approach, conducting detailed observations, surveys and interviews with staff and patients to gather comprehensive data on the overall layout, exam rooms, staff work areas and break rooms.
“The study helped us see what configuration would best work for staff efficiency and patient satisfaction,” said Emplify Health by Bellin Senior Vice President of Specialty Services Lines Jen Macdonald. “We found that a pod configuration can enhance communication and collaboration among staff, while providing a more comfortable and streamlined experience for patients.” Outcomes from this study have also provided actionable insights that helped inform decisions at the Bellin Health Surgery & Specialty Center and will be used for future outpatient facilities.
Macdonald commented, “This recognition from EDRA is a testament to Emplify Health’s commitment to advancing healthcare through evidence-based research and innovation, and to those with whom we partner to shape the future for quality care and overall patient experience.”
The findings will provide valuable guidance for other healthcare providers and designers looking to create more efficient and patient-centered environments. As healthcare continues to evolve, Emplify Health will remain at the forefront, leveraging innovative research to drive improvements in care delivery and facility design.
