Edgewood University: Home Instead® nursing scholarships continue to support students

Madison, Wis. (September 9, 2025) – Edgewood University is honored to receive a combined gift of $100,000 from the Home Instead office and their owner in celebration of the University’s upcoming centennial and to support vital scholarships for nursing students.

Chad Weis, General Manager of the Madison office of Home Instead®, made a gift to the University for the fifth consecutive year which will continue their support of the Home Instead® nursing scholarship and athletics. Since its establishment in 2021, the nursing scholarship has provided significant financial support to more than twenty Edgewood University nursing students in their academic journey.

“We are so grateful for the continued generosity of Home Instead which now totals more than $300,000 in gifts, ensuring long-term resources for nursing students,” Dr. Quinn Mullikin, Dean of the Henry Predolin College of Health Sciences, said. “Each year, these contributions open doors for students to pursue their degrees and strengthen Edgewood University’s ability to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.”

The relationship began in 2020 when Weis and his team received the Founders’ Award from their parent office, which allowed them to direct a gift to a nonprofit of their choice. They selected Edgewood University, and the first scholarships were awarded to nursing students in the fall of 2021.

“Chad and his team are making a lasting impact by encouraging and supporting students as they begin their journeys in health care,” Steve Nooyen, owner of Home Instead offices in Wisconsin and several other locations, said. “We were inspired to create Home Instead after experiencing a difficult time finding care for my grandfather, Al. I know today Grandpa Al is smiling, knowing that he’s helping provide future caregivers with the tools to create a more compassionate world.”

Steve made a special personal gift to round up Home Instead’s gift to $100,000 in 2021 and has stepped up again this year to recognize Edgewood University’s upcoming centennial.
