Dept. of Revenue: Paul Eriksen selected as division of technology services administrator

Madison, WI – The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) announced that Paul Eriksen has been selected to serve as Administrator for the Division of Technology Services (DTS). Eriksen’s comprehensive experience in information technology and strong foundation as a software engineer position him for success in his new role.

“We are thrilled to welcome Paul as our new DTS Administrator,” said Department of Revenue Secretary Designee David Casey. “His wealth of experience and proven track record of innovation will be instrumental in advancing DOR’s tradition of technology innovation leadership in the tax space.”

Most recently, Eriksen served as Technical Advisor for the Internal Revenue Service, where he led large teams of IRS employees and contractors in solving complex technical issues. His focus on efficiency and cost savings led to the development of key innovations such as pre-population of taxation amounts across multiple internal systems. He also served as the technical integration lead for the Taxpayer Disclosure Authorization (TDA).

Prior to his work for the IRS, Eriksen served in the United States Digital Service (USDS), a team of elite technology experts recruited by the federal government to deliver better government services to the American people through technology and design. As a digital services engineering expert, Eriksen led product teams and engineered solutions for a broad range of federal applications. His group built the proof of concept for the Direct File application in eight weeks to pitch the product to stakeholders and roll it out on time.

In addition to his federal government service, Eriksen held a variety of positions in the private sector leading software teams and developing software for diverse businesses. His skills and experience include engineering solutions, cybersecurity, data analytics and management and process modernization.
