MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Secretary Randy Romanski has appointed Catherine Giljohann as DATCP’s General Counsel.
“Attorney Giljohann’s legal background and her experience serving in various senior government roles has uniquely prepared her to serve as DATCP’s General Counsel,” said Romanski. “We are excited to have her join the DATCP team later this month.”
Giljohann previously served in several roles at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) including Special Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel and Legal Advisor to past Commissioners. In addition to her experience at FERC, Giljohann has served as a staff detailee to the House Energy and Commerce Committee and Deputy Associate Director for Regulatory Policy at the White House Council of Environmental Quality.
“I am excited to be returning home to Wisconsin to start the next chapter of my public service career with DATCP,” said Giljohann. “I look forward to working with the DATCP team to support the important mission and work of this agency and partner with the citizens of Wisconsin to grow the economy by promoting quality food, healthy plants and animals, sound use of land and water resources, and a fair marketplace.”
Giljohann earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her first day at DATCP will be June 30, 2025.
