As Wisconsin families see their health care costs soar thanks to congressional Republicans, GOP Congressman and gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany is refusing to commit to protecting critical Affordable Care Act tax credits that allow families to pay for health insurance.
Asked repeatedly how he would vote, Tiffany responded, “I don’t accept the premise of your question,” before arguing for an alternative to the health care law that “has not been done.” In Congress, Tiffany has baselessly said the Affordable Care Act has “harmed… America” and cosponsored legislation that would have raised drug costs for Wisconsin seniors by thousands of dollars.
Now, Wisconsinites could see health insurance premiums “skyrocket” next year by as much as 800 percent if Tiffany and his colleagues continue to oppose these tax credits.
“As Wisconsin families see costs continue to rise, Tom Tiffany is only making the problem worse by refusing to protect access to affordable health insurance,” said DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy. “If Tiffany has his way, Wisconsinites will lose their health care and hospitals could be forced to close their doors — Wisconsin quite literally can’t afford his reckless and extreme agenda .”
