MADISON – Below is a statement from Dane County Executive on the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling from earlier today regarding UW Health Nurses union rights:
“I am deeply disappointed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision today, which denies UW Health nurses the right to unionize. This outcome is a setback not only for the thousands of nurses who have courageously organized, but for all who believe that workers deserve a voice in their workplace.
As someone who has consistently stood in solidarity with workers and supported the right to organize throughout my career in public service, I know this fight was always about more than legal interpretations. It was about fair treatment, safe working conditions, and ensuring that those who care for our communities have the support they need to do their jobs with dignity.
Dane County values the rights of workers and the power of collective action. I will continue to support these nurses and their calls for change, because when we invest in the people who care for us, our entire community is stronger.”
