Businesses and their employees support local nonprofits working to make change happen.
Madison, WI – At a time when many organizations are under attack for advocating causes such as diversity, equity, inclusion, sustainability, civil liberties, LGBTQ+ rights, and other social justice issues, Community Shares of Wisconsin and its nearly 70 member nonprofits are standing strong in support of these causes.
Community Shares of Wisconsin’s annual workplace giving campaign is going on now and runs through November. Workplace giving through Community Shares allows employees of local businesses and organizations to support nearly 70 local nonprofits working on voting rights, healthy food systems, criminal justice reform, housing advocacy, environmental protection, and much more.
Individuals choose the nonprofits they want to support and then make their donation through tax-deductible donations. 100% of their donation goes directly to the nonprofit they choose.
“Like no other time in recent history, our basic rights and freedoms are under attack. Your donation during workplace giving is an investment in nonprofits that are challenging systems and holding decision-makers accountable,” says Cheri Dubiel, Community Shares of Wisconsin’s Executive Director.
Throughout Madison and Dane County, leading businesses and organizations choose to offer workplace giving through Community Shares because of Community Shares’ focus on local nonprofits. Participating workplaces include Boardman Clark, Godfrey & Kahn SC, Group Health Cooperative, Hawks Quindel SC, Hiebing Group, Johnson Block and Company, Lake Ridge Bank, MetaStar, Park Bank, Slipstream Group, State Bar of Wisconsin, Summit Credit Union, UW Credit Union, Wegner CPAs, Wells Print and Digital, Wipfli LLP, and the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association.
Community Shares’ largest workplace giving campaign continues to be the State of Wisconsin’s Partners in Giving campaign. State employees and University of Wisconsin employees, as well as City of Madison and Dane County employees, can choose to donate to Community Shares of Wisconsin and their nearly 70 member nonprofits through the Partners in Giving campaign which began October 6.
For businesses and organizations that do not currently offer workplace giving through Community Shares, it’s simple to start a campaign. Community Shares works alongside other fundraising federations in many workplaces, and conducting a side-by-side campaign that includes Community Shares requires little added work. Studies show that employers who offer choices in workplace giving see an increase in employee participation and total dollars raised.
