Catalpa Health: Announces new leadership

Julie Meyer, MPS, FACHE will Serve as CEO of Catalpa Health and President of the Catalpa Foundation

Appleton, WI — Julie Meyer, MPS, FACHE, has been named CEO of Catalpa Health and Catalpa Foundation President. 

Meyer has served as Catalpa’s interim CEO since December 2024. She has also served as a Catalpa board member and treasurer since 2020 where she provided strategic and financial leadership.

In her new role, Meyer will guide Catalpa Health to advance its mission to help children and families improve their mental health and wellness, while also serving as president of the Catalpa Foundation to ensure alignment and transparency between both boards.


“I’m honored to accept this position. Ensuring every child has access to the behavioral health care they need to thrive is the mission that drives me, and my focus is on guiding strategy and aligning our team and operations so Catalpa can serve every child who needs us,” Meyer said.

Meyer comes to Catalpa from ThedaCare where she served as director of behavioral health since 2018 where she expanded access to care. Throughout her career, she has been a champion for improving access to behavioral health care to all who need it through innovative and patient-centered approaches.

“Over the past nine months as interim leader, she has brought steady leadership, strengthened operations, and deepened our partnerships, earning the trust of staff, families, and community stakeholders,” said Shaun Gunderson, Catalpa Health Board Chair. “Julie’s leadership ensures continuity and trust, creating the stability needed to grow services and meet community needs.”

Catalpa Health is a pediatric mental health organization that provides pediatric and youth mental health services including psychiatry, mental health therapy and psychological evaluations to children and their families through clinics in Appleton and Oshkosh. Additionally, mental health therapy services are offered in more than 30 area schools. Founded and managed as a collaboration between healthcare systems Ascension Wisconsin, Children’s Wisconsin, ThedaCare, and our community, Catalpa Health is invested in community partnerships and works with other mental health providers to ensure that all children are receiving the right care at the right time, close to home.
