“The Blind Horse has been keeping a pulse on real estate opportunities in Wisconsin’s top tourist cities such as Cedarburg, Lake Geneva, and De Pere,” said Bob Moeller, co-owner of The Blind Horse Restaurant & Winery. “The quaint environs, spectacular high-traffic location, and the historically unique building were key elements in selecting this building as the framework to create the first satellite Blind Horse location. This property will likely become the template for additional Blind Horse properties in other Wisconsin travel towns.”

The tasting room’s design elements celebrate the historic character and integrity of the property. The property was built in the 1840s and was most recently home to an apparel boutique and is located along the edge of the Cedar Creek. Renovations began in Spring 2024.

The design of the property blends rustic and refined elements as a nod to the Blind Horse in Kohler and the charm of downtown Cedarburg. Steve Peskie of Distinctive Design Studio (Sheboygan Falls) and Jos. Schmitt Construction (Sheboygan) led by owner Steve Schmitt renovated and restored the building and outdoor spaces.

“The eclectic space has been carefully crafted to highlight the original architectural elements of the building while mimicking the aesthetics of The Blind Horse in Kohler with its unique decor, rich materials, and curated art pieces,” said Connie Moeller, co-owner of The Blind Horse.

The Blind Horse Cellar – Cedarburg interior and exterior design elements include:
– restored rustic exposed brick
– gold foil detail on the ceiling
– horse-themed decor and curated art collection
– vintage oil lanterns
– the largest bar in Cedarburg.

“Cedarburg is one of the most coveted destinations in our state for wine enthusiasts and we are elated to join the vibrant, charming and travel-worthy downtown Cedarburg district,” said Bob. “We have already received a warm welcome by the town and look forward to being one of the must-stop locales for visitors and residents alike with an inspired wine tasting experience and eclectic gathering place.”

The opening of the cellar-style concept was the impetus of recent state legislation reform allowing Wisconsin wineries and breweries to operate multiple locations passed in 2024. The Blind Horse owners swiftly purchased the historic building and started extensive renovations in Spring 2024.

“When we opened The Blind Horse thirteen years ago in Kohler we would never have imagined opening a second location,” said Bob. “We are equally as eager to open The Cellar in Cedarburg as we were to open the Kohler property more than a decade ago to further bring the Napa Valley-style wine experience to the Midwest.”

The Blind Horse Cellar – Cedarburg opening team includes:
– owners Bob and Connie Moeller
– managing director Chris Varah
– tasting room manager John Philipp
– chef Robert Brown

– 20+ staff members, servers and winetenders.
