Agrace: To receive CuddleCot donation to support grieving families in pediatric hospice care

MADISON, Wis. — Families served through Agrace’s pediatric hospice program will soon have access to a CuddleCotTM, a specialized cooling device that allows parents more precious time with their babies after death. The CuddleCot was donated by The Jack Pack, a Janesville-based nonprofit founded by a family who experienced infant loss.

A CuddleCot is a temperature-controlled bassinet insert that slows natural changes after death, giving families the ability to stay with their baby for up to several days. This additional time helps families create memories, involve extended loved ones, and grieve in a gentler, more supported way.

Although many people associate hospice care primarily with adults, Agrace’s pediatric hospice program provides specialized end-of-life support for infants, children and teens. Having a CuddleCot available expands the options Agrace can offer families during an unimaginably difficult time.

“This donation ensures that families who experience the loss of a baby can choose to spend more time together in a peaceful, supportive environment,” said Dr. Hilary Bingol, Agrace’s medical director. “That time can be incredibly meaningful in a family’s grieving process.”

The Jack Pack was created in memory of baby Jack, who was stillborn in September 2015. Since then, Jack’s family has donated numerous CuddleCots to local hospitals to help give other families the gift of time—something they wished they had themselves.

The CuddleCot will be delivered to Agrace in Madison, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 2 p.m., and will be available for use after staff training throughout Agrace’s entire southern Wisconsin service area.
