MADISON – Wisconsin Business World announced three winners of the Fall 2023 Innovation Competition. The twice-annual contest, sponsored by Kwik Trip, tasks students to innovate a new product for the Kwik Trip convenience stores, create a marketing plan and present the idea in the format of their choice.
The winners of the Innovation Competition:
Elliott Haenggi– 10th grade – De Pere High School
Brooklyn Wagner– 9th grade – Milton High School
Liam Kempainen– 12th grade – Preble High School
“Part of our mission is to expand students’ minds and lead them to see economic and entrepreneurial opportunities in their own backyards,” said Senior Director of Wisconsin Business World Michelle Grajkowski. “This contest is a great way to help students formulate their own innovative and useful ideas – to see needs and create ways to meet them. We were so impressed with these projects. Congratulations to Elliott, Brooklyn and Liam!”
Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip is a leader in vertical integration, manufacturing and customer care, giving students an opportunity to create a wide array of products. This year’s winning entries included Boba Blast, a Juice Machine and the Kwik Trip Cookbook. Each entry included a presentation on the product and a marketing strategy identifying a target audience and explaining how the product would increase consumer sales.
“Congratulations to these winners,” shared Kwik Trip’s Industry and Trade Association Manager Joe Zietlow. “This contest is a fun way to help students use their innovation and creativity to solve real-world problems. We appreciate all the hard work that went into each of the presentations and are always impressed with the breadth of creativity!”
The contest was open to Wisconsin students in grades 6-12. All projects were submitted between October 3, 2023 – January 5, 2024. The winners each received a $500 cash prize.
