MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) has compiled eight sector-specific reports by industry experts to provide an overview of what is in store for Wisconsin’s economy in 2024. The reports — available at wisbank.com/2024forecast — include insights from:

  • Rose Oswald Poels, Wisconsin Bankers Association,
  • Robb Kahl, Construction Business Group,
  • Kevin Krentz, Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation,
  • Brandon Scholz, Wisconsin Grocers Association,
  • Eric Borgerding, Wisconsin Hospital Association,
  • Kurt Bauer, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce,
  • Tom Larson, Wisconsin REALTORS® Association, and
  • Tom Still, Wisconsin Technology Council.

In her report, WBA President and CEO Rose Oswald Poels emphasizes the resilience of Wisconsin’s banking industry. “While there is some caution heading into 2024, bankers believe that the economy will not materially change from its current conditions and are not expecting a recession,” says Oswald Poels. “Bankers are in the risk business and have reserves set aside to handle any potential defaults they may experience in 2024. Overall, the industry itself is very healthy and in a strong position to work with their borrowers and customers through any potential economic issue this year.”
