UW Health: named to Forbes list of America’s best-in-state employers 2024

MADISON, Wis. – Forbes has named UW Health one of America’s best employers by state this year in Wisconsin and Illinois.

This award is presented by Forbes in partnership with Statista, a statistics portal and industry ranking provider.

America’s Best-In-State Employers 2024 were identified using an independent survey from a sample of more than 160,000 employees working for companies that employ at least 500 people within the United States. The ranking is open to companies across all industry sectors. Forbes and Statista evaluated approximately 4.4 million employer evaluations, and reviewed data across three years, which allowed for a robust differentiation between organizations that perform well consistently.

UW Health ranked 33rd in Wisconsin, and 10th in Illinois, the highest ranking for a health system in Illinois.

Looking for new ways to provide growth opportunities, offer the benefits employees want and need, and continuing to foster a welcoming environment, have helped UW Health achieve recognitions like this, according to Betsy Clough, system vice president and chief human resources officer, UW Health.

“We aim to ensure UW Health is an employer of choice in Madison and beyond,” she said.

Employers’ final scores were determined on a state-by-state basis and built upon personal and public evaluations. A personal evaluation was defined as an employee’s willingness to recommend their employers to friends and family. Public, or indirect, evaluations came from friends and family members of employees, or from individuals who work in the same industry.

It’s thrilling to see that employees and communities see UW Health as a best-in-state employer, said Rosa Jeschke, vice president of human resources, UW Health in northern Illinois.

“Our employees place our patients, community and each other at the forefront of everything they do, and it’s great to see that their commitment is recognized and celebrated in this way.”
