NEENAH, Wis. – ThedaCare is pleased to announce the completion of the $100M investment to modernize ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah.
The Inspired Past; Healthier Future modernization of the campus is transforming health care for all those living in the region, and allows ThedaCare to continue its commitment to keeping care local in the Fox Cities.

Andrabi, MD, FAAFM, president of Froedtert ThedaCare Health. “We are inspired by the enhancements and expanded care options that will be offered through this investment in our legacy hospital. The updates will advance coordinated care throughout the ThedaCare service area, including critical access hospitals, giving patients greater access to innovative and specialized care.”
The advancements support the campus that currently provides critical care services, such as the region’s only Level II Trauma Center, certified Comprehensive Stroke Center and Emergency Department.
The project was announced in October 2021 and construction began in January of 2022. Throughout the project, ThedaCare worked with Miron Construction, HGA and Hplex Solutions. The teams have worked diligently to support the design and construction of the facility.
Focusing on the Patient and Family Experience
The architectural design of the modernization was aimed at providing an enhanced experience for patients, families, visitors and team members, and created in partnership with physicians, clinicians and staff.
Highlights of the transformation include:
• Expanding the Emergency Department, doubling the previous care space. There are now 20 exams rooms, including specialized rooms for trauma and behavioral health, with the latest technology, equipment and space to provide patients with the best care experience.
• Creating an additional helipad for the ThedaStar Air Medical Program, which is adjacent to the Emergency Department for rapid transfer of patients. Specialized teams are also providing critical care in a redesigned and modernized Trauma Center.
• Enhancing specialized space to care for stroke patients as the region’s only Comprehensive Stroke Center, a designation given to those hospitals that have specific abilities to care for the most complex stroke cases.
• Updating operating rooms to include advanced robotic surgical equipment, creating four dedicated robotics suites to support better outcomes for patients, and developing an outstanding teaching environment as leaders in robotics surgery.
• Updating the Theda Clark Peters Family Birth Center, allowing families to welcome little ones into the world in a modern, comfortable and soothing environment.
• Introducing the Obstetrical Emergency Department and Hospitalist Program to enhance the care provided in the Theda Clark Peters Family Birth Center. The addition of these hospital-based women’s services help teams continue providing comprehensive, safe care for expectant mothers and babies.
• Forming a new Graduate Medical Education (GME) program to prepare physicians to care for tomorrow’s health needs and challenges by creating advanced training opportunities for individuals who have completed medical school, including residencies, fellowships, internships and other specialty programs. Implementing a GME program directly aligns with the organization’s commitment to enhancing access to care for the people in the region by recruiting and retaining highly trained physicians.
• Creating a new environment for the Women’s Center, which includes mammography, diagnostics and imaging, and bone density testing. The space establishes a comfortable area where women can feel confident in their personalized, proactive health care decisions.
• Centrally locating key diagnostic outpatient services and a retail pharmacy on the first floor of the hospital to ensure easy patient access.
• Designing a new dining area on the main floor for the convenience of visitors and team members.

Generous Community Support
Enhancements to better the patient experience through the Modernization Project at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah were funded in part through donors who support the ThedaCare Foundation-Neenah.
The Foundation worked with generous donors within the community to raise more than $15M of philanthropic support. In addition, the Foundation released $25M from existing assets to provide a total of $40M in support of this Modernization Project.
The completion of the project comes as ThedaCare is on continued path to reinvent health care by becoming a proactive partner in health – enriching the lives of all and creating value in everything they do. “Through investments to enhance and expand services at our local hospitals, we can continue to prepare and respond to the needs of the communities we serve, keeping our patients and families safe and healthy, now and in the future,” said Dr. Andrabi. “By building on our inspired past to create a healthier future, ThedaCare continues our dedication to empower each person to live their unique, best life.”
