Oshkosh Public Museum: Celebrates Day of the Dead with free community event

Oshkosh, WI — Monday, October 14, 2024 — The Oshkosh Public Museum welcomes the community to its third-annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration, a free cultural event for all ages. Set to take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 10 AM to 4 PM, this engaging event promises a day filled with traditional festivities and fun for the entire family.

Visitors will be immersed in the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos with activities such as viewing the community altar, creating unique crafts, and enjoying live performances by Ballet Folklórico Xanharati dancers brought to life by the vibrant energy of mariachi music. Complimentary face painting will add to the festive ambiance.

Beyond the Museum walls, downtown Oshkosh joins the celebration with free screenings of Disney Pixar’s beloved film “Coco” at the Time Community Theater. A free, English-language screening will be shown on Friday, November 1 at 7 PM. The Spanish-language version will be shown in a matinee at 2 PM on Saturday, November 2.

Thanks to the generous support of Marigold Sponsor The Taqueria, Museum admission will be free all day on November 2, 2024, allowing all community members to explore OPM.
