Bayfield, Wis. (May 30, 2024) – St. James Social, a boutique hotel and restaurant will host its grand opening celebration Saturday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m.
“Bayfield is a special place that is easy to fall quickly and deeply in love with. Through beautifully timeless design details and intentionally curated food and beverage, we want to be the first chapter of that Bayfield love story for our guests, and a new chapter for our community,” said proprietor Annalisa Bermel.
The hotel soft-opened in late summer 2023 and boasts a stylish social lounge serving gourmet pizzas and entrées. Condé Naste Traveler named the St. James Social one of the “23 Best Places To Go in 2023” and received an award from Midwest Living Magazine’s “Best of the Midwest Travel Awards” as one of the “25 buzziest openings”of 2024.
The hotel features eight beautifully appointed boutique hotel suites on the second floor. Guest amenities include a rooftop lounge, sauna and coffee bar. It’s also the only hotel accommodations in Bayfield that has an elevator, making it ADA accessible.
The St. James Social, located at 200 Rittenhouse Avenue in historic downtown Bayfield was built in 1884. Bermel took extra care to ensure the preservation and historic integrity by working with the National Park Service and the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office.
“St. James Social pays homage to its historic life as a leisure destination during the Railroad era, The St. James Hotel, and will continue its legacy of transformational hospitality that connects community, travelers, and place,” said Bermel.
The project was made possible through partnerships with Greiner Construction, AWH Architects, Bremer Bank, Bremer Community Investment Fund, Entrepreneur Fund, PACE Loan Group, Northwest Regional Planning Commission, Bayfield County and Wisconsin Department of Economic Development.
