Worzalla: Fuels summer reading: $2K donation boosts library program

Stevens Point, Wisconsin (May 2, 2023) – Worzalla, an employee-owned printing company specializing in high-quality children’s books, cookbooks, and hard-cover best sellers, is working with the Portage County Public Library to support summer reading programs. The mission? Get Portage County youth to reach their summer reading goals.

“Summer reading programs play a crucial role in the development of young minds. In addition to Worzalla’s Dive Into Reading program, investing in our community’s library program ensures that students can maintain the skills they learned during the school year,” said Brianne Petruzalek, Vice President of Human Resources at Worzalla. “By supporting summer reading programs, we’re not just promoting literacy, but also fostering a lifelong love for learning.”

As part of the sponsorship, Worzalla donated $2,000 to the “Lit Loot” reading program.

“Encouraging students to read and learn every day is our mission here at Portage County Public Library,” Nicole Ozanich, Youth Services Librarian at the Portage County Public Library.  “With Worzalla’s generous donation, we can now offer even more, making our programs more exciting and engaging for students.”

The Library’s Lit Loot program invites kids, teens, and adults to register for a free personalized book subscription bag with a new theme each month. Bags will contain a relevant and custom-selected library book and surprise-themed goodies. The Portage County Public Library’s full roster of summer programming runs through the end of July and can be found at pocolibrary.org/youth-family-resources.

This is the second year Worzalla will offer its Dive Into Reading summer program and support Portage County Library’s summer reading program. Last year, Worzalla donated 500 children’s books for the Library to use as summer reading rewards and 500 bags that the Library used for their Lit Loot program.

Worzalla’s extensive community outreach includes donating books to libraries and schools, sponsoring literacy and learning events, and participating in community-wide fundraisers and charity events. Recently, Worzalla made a donation of $2,000 to support the Central Wisconsin Book Festival that will take place in October.
