Women’s Business Initiative Corporation: Hosts “Small Business Seeds for Growth” on March 15

MILWAUKEE – On Wednesday, March 15th from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm, the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) will host an event tailored to help Wisconsin small businesses thrive called “Small Business: Seeds for Growth.” It is sponsored by Huntington National Bank and will take place at Schlitz Park at 1555 N RiverCenter Drive in Milwaukee.

Over 100 small business owners have registered for this free event to join lending experts and learn the different types of capital resources, how to be application and loan ready, how to interview and be interviewed by a banker, and how to present to a loan committee.

“We are so excited to bring this unique, fee-free event to entrepreneurs in the area looking to start or grow their business,” says Wendy Baumann, WWBIC President and Chief Visionary Officer. “Huntington’s Lift Local Business program has been kind enough to assist us in the funding and structure of this unique format including a panel, a marketplace and coaching all in just a few hours time.”

Lift Local Business supports minority-, woman-, and veteran-owned small businesses throughout their life cycle – from start-up through expansion. The program offers loans, business planning support, free financial education courses and more.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. When they succeed, we all succeed. Huntington Bank is proud to partner with WWBIC to help provide Milwaukee area small businesses with the tools that they need to thrive,” said Wisconsin Regional President of Huntington National Bank, Chris Sweetland.

A session with panelists will start off the event at 9:00 am including Tammie Clendenning from the Small Business Administration (SBA), Huntington Lift Local Business Program Manager Paige Sanchez, WWBIC’s Director of Lending Michael Hetzel and numerous other WWBIC experts. Panelists will be available to answer the questions of individuals in attendance.

At 10:30 the event then shifts to a small business marketplace and an opportunity for attendees to receive one-on-one business coaching in various fields of expertise.

The marketplace will feature a dozen local WWBIC clients who will have their products on hand for sale and to let attendees know more about their business ventures. Organizations like the SBA, SCORE, MKE Black and others will also have tables at the event to provide information and resources to support small business entrepreneurs.

The one-on-one speed coaching will be available to clients in the form of up to five 20-minute high-impact sessions with some of the area’s best small business specialists in fields including accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, strategic planning and more.

Designed to provide expert, personalized business advice, this dynamic event is structured so that small business owners can partner with various experts to generate new ideas and strategies that will help their businesses succeed.
