Wisconsin – The Wisconsin Coalition For Safe Roads, a statewide network of community alliances that represent business, faith, labor, law enforcement, and community organizations, will be postponing their planned Wednesday, March 8th public lobby day at the Wisconsin State Capitol. An alternative date will be announced for early April.
Governor Evers’ state budget includes a plan to restore access to driver’s licenses for all Wisconsin residents, regardless of immigration status, as well as other pro-safe roads initiatives like accessible driver’s education and auto insurance. It must be approved by the Joint Finance Committee (JFC).
The lobby day event was planned to allow constituents to join delegations meeting with local representatives to engage in meaningful conversations about the positive impact that supporting drivers licenses for all can have for Wisconsin.
While at this time there are no upcoming public and press events scheduled, we remain in conversation with our representatives. The coalition also looks forward to the upcoming JFC public hearings.
Restoring access to drivers licenses for all would have an enormous economic impact and positive benefit for all Wisconsinites with promises of lower insurance costs for every driver, greater access to gainful employment, and safer roads overall.
