“In my role at the Wisconsin Academy, I have the pleasure of hearing poetry read out loud. This experience illuminates and reveals little details as well as larger truths,” stated Wisconsin Academy Executive Director, Erika Monroe-Kane. “We are excited to showcase Wisconsin’s rich literary world and connect people with extraordinary poets among us, from both in the state and beyond.”
Organizations are encouraged to join this initiative as a partner. The Academy welcomes partners of many kinds and is conducting specific outreach to literary entities such as libraries, bookstores, publishers, book clubs and educational; communities connected through culture such Latino, Indigenous, and immigrant; and those interested in themes such as nature, conservation and the changing environment. Bloom partners will showcase their commitment to the literary arts and gain prominent recognition, joining others such as the L.E. Phillips Memorial Library, Chippewa Valley Writers Guild, Write on Door County, Madison College, Mad City Story Slam, LOUD (Latinos Organizing for Understanding and Development, In-Na-Po (Indigenous Nations Poets), Mead Public Library, Madison Poet Laureate Angela Trudell Vasquez, Wisconsin Writers Association, and the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets. Partners will be acknowledged in event programs, webpages, promotional and printed material, and via social media based on the level of commitment. Those interested should contact Danielle Harms at dharms@wisconsinacademy.org to learn more about becoming a Bloom partner.
