Weininger campaign: Fact check shows Genrich lying to voters about police officer staffing

(Green Bay, WI) Today, Mayor Eric Genrich released a new television advertisement claiming the City of Green Bay hired seven new police officer positions during his tenure. However, a fact check performed by a respected think tank used Green Bay’s own budget documents to show that there are seven fewer sworn officers in the Green Bay Police Department today than when Eric Genrich took office. You can see the fact check here: https://www.maciverinstitute.com/2023/03/fact-check-has-progressive-genrich-added-more-cops-to-green-bay-streets/

“Eric Genrich is not telling the truth about how he cut the police department at the same time we are seeing record high violent crime in Green Bay,” said Weininger. “Eric Genrich has his priorities in the wrong place. He seems more concerned about surveilling the activities of unsuspecting citizens in city hall then he does making our neighborhoods safe. As mayor, I’ll invest in our police, reinstate neighborhood clean sweeps and focus on stopping crime before it happens.”

Chad Weininger currently serves as Director of Administration for Brown County – a nonpartisan position he was unanimously appointed to by the Brown County Board of Supervisors. Prior to the appointment, Chad represented the far westside of Green Bay in the Wisconsin State Legislature. He also has owned small businesses in the Green Bay area including a real estate company and a restaurant both located in downtown Green Bay.
