MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN – MobCraft Beer is celebrating their tenth anniversary with the return of Weird Fest, an in person street fest celebration on Saturday, July 22 from 12:00-8:00pm. The party will take place both inside and outside the Milwaukee taproom located at 505. 5th Street in the Walker’s Point neighborhood of Milwaukee. Virginia Street will be shut down for festival goers along with the grassy area across the street from the brewery. Weird Fest will again feature high-flying Mondo Lucha wrestling along with live music, food, belly dancers, face painters, local vendors, and of course, plenty of interesting beer. Admission to the festival is free and family-friendly.

This year’s one-off, limited release beers include:

  • Mango Habanero Crush – Mango smoothie-style beer with a blast of habanero heat.
  • Dill Pickle Sour Ale – Sour Ale layered with cucumbers, fresh dill and spices.
  • Mushroom Mobtoberfest – Marzen-style ale featuring shiitake, oyster and button mushrooms. Created by MobCraft Co-Owner and mushroom nerd, Andrew!

MobCraft will also be creating unique, specialty beer cocktails to be announced on the Weird Fest website prior to the fest.

Additionally, the Walker’s Point brewery will release their 10th Anniversary Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout – a blend of a 12 year Elijah Craig barrel and a 5yr Evan Williams barrel featuring vanilla beans and coffee. The honorary anniversary Stout will only be available in extremely limited four packs of cans to go. Festival goers who are interested in the limited release are recommended to arrive when the festival kicks off to snag their four pack.

There will be plenty of everyday MobCraft flagships, seasonal, limited-releases and crowdsourced beers available as well.

Andrew Gierczak, Co-Owner of MobCraft Beer, always looks forward to creating the unique beers for the annual fest. “All of our brewers are excited for this year’s Weird Fest releases! Dill pickle sour showcases our staff’s love of gardening and canning and Mango Habanero Crush is going to have a spicy and tantalizing kick to our incredibly popular smoothie-style beer. Gierczak, a self-admitted mushroom enthusiast, adds, “My personal prize of this year’s Weird Fest is our Mushroom beer, a Marzen base beer which combines three different types of mushrooms – Oyster, Shiitake and Button, to create a one-of-a-kind flavor that is as tasty as it is satisfying . This is the third iteration of a mushroom beer we have done for Weird Fest and our best one yet!”

MobCraft’s kitchen will be offering specialty items to pair with the featured festival beers. Also, Los Compadres food truck will be serving up Mexican fare and Style Pop Café will be on site with specialty coffee drinks, bagged coffee, egg rolls and their signature baked goods.

The fan favorite Mondo Lucha wrestlers will first take the ring at 12:15pm and then an additional five times throughout the afternoon with the last match at 7:00pm. Mondo Lucha fans can participate in a meet and greet with the wrestlers after their last match around 7:30pm.

Live outdoor music starts with two groovy sets from Overflow at 12:30pm and 3:00pm. Dad Strength cover band follows with two sing along sets at 4:00pm and 5:45pm.

In addition to the things you’ve come to love and expect from Weird Fest like food, live music, and Mondo Lucha wrestling, Event & Programming Manager Elise Strupp cites the expanded vendor list as something that will make Weird Fest 2023 bigger and better than ever: “Clover plant shop, Style Pop Cafe, and face painting by Christian Sis have all become staples at Weird Fest. We’re welcoming back ‘Fishing for Bangers’ vintage clothing gameshow which was an instant hit last year. Aime’s Botanicals and Blooms and Chillwaukee popsicles are new this year, along with Lili’s Art Boutique, Moose Vintage, and Kelly’s Greens.”  Strupp continues, “All of our vendors add flavor to the fest. I love seeing the creative face painting both children and adults commission; the matching Mike Tyson face tattoos on a woman and her toy doll from last year still makes me laugh! We’re also closing the night out with music from Dad Strength, a high energy cover band. I can’t wait to hear attendees belting out beer fuel sing alongs in the street.”

A complete performance line up and more details about Weird Fest can be found on the Weird Fest webpage.

About MobCraft Beer

MobCraft Beer was founded in 2013 by Henry Schwartz and Andrew Gierczak. It is the world’s first crowdsourced brewery. MobCraft’s locations are 505 S. 5th Street in the Walker’s Point neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI. Throughout the year the crowd submits and votes on beer ideas. At the end of the vote, the winning beer is brewed and available for all to enjoy. These crowdsourced beers are served in the taproom with MobCraft flagships, beers from their Wild & Sour Program and more.
