Brookfield, Wis. – August 2, 2023 – In partnership with the Elmbrook School District, the Elmbrook Education Foundation (EEF) is seeking adult volunteers to participate in a pilot program to assist elementary school students with academic growth.
EEF Intergenerational Steering Committee member Deborah Nustad shared her excitement about the pilot: “EEF has been supporting Elmbrook Schools since 1958, and on this 65th anniversary of the Foundation, we are excited to start a program that provides adults of all ages with more ways to meaningfully connect with our students.”
The EEF will begin piloting literacy and math volunteers at Swanson Elementary this fall. If successful, expansion will continue to more schools. Volunteers will begin working with elementary-school-aged children for 2 hours per week on weekday afternoons starting in October.
Glen Allgaier, a Steering Committee member and former Elmbrook Board of Education member stated, “Having spoken with districts throughout the country who have implemented similar programs, I am confident that adult volunteers in the Elmbrook community will have a positive experience and impact as they connect with students to grow their academic skills.”
