Dept. of Administration: State of Wisconsin honors National Procurement Month

Madison, Wis. – In recognition of National Procurement Month, as proclaimed by Governor Tony Evers this week, Wisconsin Department of Administration Secretary Kathy Blumenfeld highlighted the efforts of procurement staff across all State agencies and campuses. In Fiscal Year 2022, state procurement staff were responsible for procuring more than $2.5B in general goods and services to support operations that allow agencies to provide critical services to the citizens of Wisconsin. An updated procurement spend analyzer will be rolled-out internally later this month.

“State procurement staff are held to high standards for professionalism, ethics, and transparency, and they deserve recognition,” said DOA Secretary Kathy Blumenfeld, noting that “We are proud to be good stewards of taxpayer funds to provide needed materials and services to the state, as well as additional opportunities for businesses to do business with the State of Wisconsin.”

“Our state procurement staff are responsible for ensuring that taxpayer funds are used in the best way possible,” said Cheryl Edgington, Director, State Bureau of Procurement.  “They source goods and services to meet the needs of the state using best practices in solicitation, contracting, negotiation, and evaluation. The work they do on Wisconsin’s behalf cannot be overstated.”
