The grant award is part of $1 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for relief to community organizations recover from the COVID-19 pandemic received by the Brown County Human Service department and approved by the Brown County Board of Supervisors.

“The Brown County Board of Supervisors and myself agree that the grant funds can help those most impacted by the pandemic,” says Streckenbach. “We believe one effective way to do so is through our community’s nonprofit organizations who assist families and other individuals.”

On Broadway, Inc’s Fresh Food Drive project will provide support for local homeless shelters to acquire and use locally sourced fresh produce from the Farmers’ Market on Broadway using a voucher system. It ensures that our neighbors in need have access to real, healthy food.

“We’re grateful to Brown County for recognizing a unique opportunity to support our local growers who in turn are providing fresh, quality product for those in need. The Farmers’ Market on Broadway fills an important role to bring fresh foods to a USDA designated food desert and this grant will continue to alleviate pressures on those who struggle to afford healthy and nutritious foods,” said Brian Johnson, executive director, On Broadway, Inc.
