MADISON, Wis. – Agrace announced today it has earned the #1 Top Workplaces award among the region’s large companies participating in the Wisconsin State Journal’s 2023 Top Workplaces survey. Additionally, Lynne Sexten, Agrace’s president & CEO, received a special award acknowledging employees’ confidence in her leadership.
Agrace led the category for companies with 300 or more employees. A Madison-based health care nonprofit, Agrace employs more than 850 people who work to fulfill its mission of providing hospice care, supportive care, non-medical senior care, adult day services and grief support across southern Wisconsin.
Winners of Wisconsin State Journal Top Workplaces recognition are chosen based solely on employee feedback gathered through a 24-question employee survey administered by Energage. Based in Pennsylvania, Energage determines which companies merit awards by comparing local survey results to its national benchmarks, established from surveying more than 27 million employees over 17 years.

“Making the Top Workplaces list—and the top ranking—is based on the aggregated feedback of all 24 survey questions,” said Bob Helbig, Energage’s media partnerships director. “Special awards are based on exceptional feedback to a single question.” Helbig said Sexten’s leadership award was the result of “standout feedback” to the statement: “I have confidence in the leader of this company.”
Agrace serves people across southern Wisconsin who are aging, seriously ill, dying or grieving. Most of the agency’s services are provided in people’s homes.
