Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association: Lane Kimble joins WTBA as Director of Communications

MADISON, Wis. – In an effort to improve, increase and expand its messaging related to growing Wisconsin through infrastructure investment, the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association (WTBA) announced Friday the addition of Lane Kimble as Director of Communications.

Kimble comes to WTBA after spending more than a decade in television news broadcasting, most recently serving as Assistant News Director at WISC-TV (News 3) in Madison.

The Director of Communications is a new position with the WTBA, with a sharp focus on producing exciting and robust video, audio and text-based content across all mediums, something Kimble has long-time experience creating and developing over years as a reporter.

“Lane’s depth of knowledge in new emerging communications is very impressive and we look forward to using his skills to improve our messaging to our membership, as well as to elected officials, government leaders and other stakeholders who share our interest in improving transportation infrastructure,” said Steve Baas, WTBA Executive Director.

Born and raised in Wauwatosa, Kimble has spent nearly his entire life in the Badger State. He’s worked in television markets–both large and small–as an anchor, reporter, producer and newsroom manager in Rhinelander, Milwaukee, Springfield, Mo., and Madison. Kimble is a 2010 graduate of UW-Whitewater.

“Any time there was an opportunity to cover a construction story in my newsrooms, I was always first to volunteer and thrilled to get the assignment,” Kimble said.

“From new pavements, to interchanges, to runways and bridges – infrastructure stories are audible and visual gold mines that people naturally gravitate toward. That’s not only true for the machinery and tools involved in them, but for the most important part of those stories: the vital role they play in improving economic opportunities and making our communities better places to live. I look forward to showing folks all across Wisconsin the important work the WTBA and its members are doing on a daily basis.”

In addition to a love of construction and building-related stories, Kimble also has experience reporting on state and local government, the biennial budget process, and political campaigns. That background provides a firm foundation for articulating the important role WTBA members play in making Wisconsin a better state.

Kimble’s first day with WTBA is Monday, Dec. 5.
