Madison, WI – The Wisconsin Partnership Program at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health has released its 2021 Community Impact Grants Program Request for Partnerships. The overarching goal of theCommunity Impact Grant Program is to advance health equity in Wisconsin by supporting community-academic partnership initiatives that address the social determinants of health and root causes of health inequities and are informed and implemented by those most affected by them.
Each award is for a maximum of $1 million over a period of five years. The Wisconsin Partnership Program’s Oversight and Advisory Committee anticipates making up to three awards. Online applications are due August 16, 2021.
This year’s funding cycle also addresses the disproportionate impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on some Wisconsin families and communities. This includes racial and minority ethnic groups who have been at greater risk for getting sick and dying from COVID-19 as well as families who have experienced deaths from COVID-19, adolescent populations who are experiencing social and emotional health challenges at high rates, and rural communities who may have higher rates of cigarette smoking, high blood pressure and obesity as well as less access to healthcare and lower access to health insurance.
Applicants will be asked to address the impact of COVID-19 on the communities and populations they seek to support with this funding. In doing so, the Wisconsin Partnership Program aims to support initiatives that advance health equity and address some of the state’s most persistent health challenges that have been brought to the forefront by COVID-19.
