Wisconsin Main Street Alliance: Praises Evers $420 million grants for small biz announcement

Madison— Today, Main Street Alliance Wisconsin and our 100+ member businesses thank Gov. Evers who announced $420 million dollars in new small business grants as a part of the federal funds received from the American Rescue Plan.

“Gov. Evers has had our back during the pandemic and we’re thrilled to see $5,000 checks going to over 84,000 small businesses in Wisconsin. We need to complete the Badger bounceback and these new grants will be a shot in the arm for small businesses from Bayfield to Appleton to Milwaukee and beyond. There is still more work to do, and we will continue to work to ensure that industries that have been the most impacted during the pandemic get the help they need to be able to keep the doors open, workers employed and contributing to the local economy,” Said Shawn Phetteplace, Main Street Alliance-WI State Manager.

“Main Street Alliance is hopeful but want to stress that the recovery from this pandemic will take years, not months. We look forward to working with Gov. Evers, our state legislature and federal officials to increase flexibility in state and federal programs and ensure additional support for BIPOC and women owned businesses, 2020 businesses, businesses that provided charitable work and event venues. These industries and folks need special attention and we look forward to working with folks to ensure they receive strong support.”
