UW-Green Bay: Engaging, inspiring and empowering the next generation of women

Green Bay, Wis.—The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Institute for Women’s Leadership is dedicated to engaging, inspiring and empowering the next generation of women leaders. The Institute helps women forge career-building relationships with regular networking, programs and other events, available to members for free and the non-members for a small fee.

Upcoming events in November and December include:

  • Women Rising: Stories from Experience—a one-hour lunchtime session to hear from a female leader in Wisconsin about her leadership journey, facilitated by lead community partner Bridget O’Connor, O’Connor Connective. November’s “story from experience” will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 3, Noon to 1 p.m., simultaneously in-person at the Urban Hub and via Zoom. The November event will feature Kathi Seifert, retired Executive Vice President for Kimberly-Clark and in the early 2000s one of Fortune 500’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business.   • Pioneering Programs—workshops, programs and events will be offered as needed in response to identified goals. In November, the Institute will take inspiration from the story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a free screening for members and non-members on Thursday, Nov. 4, 4-6:45 p.m. in the UW-Green Bay Christie Theatre.   • Sharing Knowledge: Business Member Workshops—periodic sessions from business members sharing their unique expertise on topics of value for women managers and entrepreneurs. In November, business members Lisa Cribben and Cameron Karlen, from Wipfli, will lead “Estimating a Sales Value for a Business and Why Every Business Owner Should Know Years Before They Retire,” scheduled via in-person for Tuesday, Nov. 30, 4-5 p.m. at the Urban Hub.   • Rising Together: Caffeinated Conversations—a learning series for women business leaders to take things to the next level in their careers and life. In December the conversation will be about “Happiness and Gratitude this Holiday Season,” and it will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 8-9 a.m. Learn more and register https://www.uwgb.edu/womens-leadership/networking-series/

The Institute also offers certificate programs for women at every stage of their career. Education is a powerful tool that can be leveraged for confidence, affirmation and knowledge. The leadership certificates are designed to be difference-makers as women seek promotion or an advanced career move.

Rising Certificate

The Rising Certificate Program is designed for undergraduate and early career women seeking leadership development. Hard work is not enough. Women from their earliest career stages must work not only diligently but strategically. Launching Spring 2022.

Advanced Leadership Program

The Advanced Leadership Certificate Program is designed for women in middle management to director roles. A woman might have some leadership experience, and she’s reaching for that next level of responsibility. The certificate program will provide guidance and woman-to-woman networking to outbalance the challenges obstructing her advancement. Now enrolling for Spring 2021. Executive Leadership Certificate

The Executive Leadership Certificate Program is intended for women in middle or upper management, or director roles, aspiring to the board room or executive status. Don’t wait to be noticed. Launching Spring 2022.
