Stoughton Fair: Returns to Mandt Park with a packed 5-day lineup

(Stoughton, WI) Truck and Tractor Pulls, Bull Riding, Strongman competition are just a few of the events found at this year’s Stoughton Fair, running June 30 – July 4.

The fair kicks off its festivities on Wednesday, June 30 with a beef show starting at 9am. The rabbit show, 4-H Olympics, and Bingo round out the days’ events.

Chris Quam, president of the all-volunteer fair board, said organizers were heartbroken and shell-shocked to cancel last year’s fair because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last fall, though, the board decided that in 2021 it was going to make sure they could plan something, Quam added.

“The 4-H and the FFA was our guarantee,” Quam said. “We were going to do whatever we had to do to make that happen for the kids, and so whatever happened beyond that would be a bonus.”

Thursday activities include a poultry show, junior dairy show, dog show, sheep show, beef open show, rib dinner, and community antique tractor pullers in the grandstands at 6:30pm.

Friday fairgoers will see the swine show, Boer goat show, a pizza eating contest for those 14 and under, and a pie eating contest for ages 15+. And it is not Friday in Wisconsin without a fish fry, which starts at 5:30pm at Mandt Center. All are encouraged to stick around for the CC Bulls in the grandstands, starting at 7pm.

“It is amazing to see how many people love to see someone get thrown around by a bull. They put on a good show,” Quam said.

Saturday activities include a dairy goat show, cavies show, kiddie tractor pull, meat animal sale in the Arena, pie auction, steak dinner at 5pm, and the PI Motorsports Truck and Tractor Pull in the grandstands at 5pm.

The fair’s final day commences with a 9am church service in Mandt Center, Little Britches Dairy Show, Open Dairy Show, USS sanctioned Strongman Competition, Master Showmanship, and a wood carving auction.

The carnival opens 4pm (Wednesday – Friday) and noon on Saturday and Sunday. Live music daily at the Moyer’s Music Pavilion from 5 – 9pm.

The fair concludes at dusk on Sunday, July 4th with their annual fireworks display.
