River Travel Media: Wisconsin Great River Road receives year two funding for “Welcome Back” campaign

Wisconsin Great River Road (March 2021): The Wisconsin Great River Road has been again awarded a Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) Grant Program for year two of its “Welcome Back to Wisconsin’s Great River Road” promotion for Summer 2021.

The multifaceted campaign was created to ramp up road trips and overnight stays on the Wisconsin portion of the Great River Road and its 33 communities. The campaign is set to run midsummer through October to capitalize on the projected traveler sentiments and increase of road trips and flying vacations for 2021.

The Great River Road and its 33 communities already offer the refuge of the outdoors, and existing attributes including 4 State Parks, and a location in the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife & Fish Refuge.

“2021 is bursting out all over and people are enthusiastic about travel again in a “Covid-Careful” way. There is a lot of pent-up demand for enjoying the Wisconsin All American Great River Road and the great outdoors. This JEM Grant is a supportive boost for the “Welcome Back to Wisconsin’s Great River Road” campaign and we were fortunate to receive it.” Sherry Quamme, Chair – Wisconsin Mississippi River Parkway Commission.

The campaign will benefit the many attractions, shops, and eateries that are located on the Road, many of which will be offering seasonal discounts. Visitors will be able to enjoy picking up supplies, food, rental equipment, and head to cabins, overlook picnics, and other silent sports options in these locations.

Wisconsin Great River Road received $10,000 from Travel Wisconsin’s JEM. The money will be used for content marketing, revised seasonal branding, campaign social posts, e-blasts, sweepstakes, photography, and paid social media advertising.
