Platform Communications: Announces expansion

[Madison, Wis.] – Platform Communications, a Midwest-based strategic communications firm, today announced an expansion in the firm’s team and service offerings. With the addition of two new hires, Platform marks a significant expansion in the firm’s digital division and coalition service offerings.

“We are excited to be growing Platform’s team yet again and to usher in an ever wider array of service offerings,” said Keith Gilkes, Platform Chairman, and CEO. “Platform has built a record of results for a wide and growing roster of clients, and we’re grateful to be in a position to continue to expand our reach across the Midwest and nationally as we grow Platform’s footprint as a truly full-service communications and digital firm.”

Among the firm’s new hires, Platform today announced the addition of Anthony Birch as Vice President of Marketing and Digital Strategy. Anthony brings with him a wealth of experience in marketing and digital services from his previous roles with political campaigns, in the private sector, and on Capitol Hill. Anthony honed his communications and digital skills on Sen. Ron Johnson’s successful re-election, in the U.S. Senate for Sen. Lamar Alexander, and at Targeted Victory where he worked with renowned political campaigns and national political committees on their marketing and digital programs. After returning to Wisconsin, Anthony held positions with Wisconsin’s state chamber of commerce Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce (WMC) and most recently with the Fortune 1000 energy technology company Generac.

“I know that Platform Communications is known for the passion its team members bring to projects, the ability to drive real results for their clients, and the way they cut through consultant cheap talk to prove the real value they provide,” Birch said. “I’m excited to be on a team that shares my values and look forward to leading the marketing and digital strategy efforts to help Platform’s clients in Wisconsin and across the Midwest reach their audience where they are, with a message that will resonate with them.”

Matt Johnson also recently joined Platform’s growing team as Field Operations Strategist and Account Executive. Matt brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Platform from his previous roles working on a wide range of issue areas. As the Field Representative and Political Director at Marsy’s Law, Matt gained valuable experience working in communities across Wisconsin. Matt also worked as a Field Operations Director at the Land and Liberty Coalition, where he worked on a wide range of renewable energy projects, before his switch to Platform Communications.

“Platform has done excellent work and I am very excited to join the Platform team and help its clients with community and stakeholder outreach,” said Johnson. “I’m looking forward to working across the region and talking with communities about important issues in their area.”

Platform Communications, founded by Gilkes in 2017 after his years of serving as top political advisor to former Gov. Scott Walker, has steadily grown its list of clients and projects. Client work includes global companies, economic development projects, successful coalition building and ballot initiatives, a wide range of advocacy efforts on the state and national level, and industry associations and nonprofits of all shapes and sizes.

With the additions of Birch and Johnson, Platform continues its significant growth and marks a robust expansion of the firm’s digital division and coalition services. The expanded divisions will allow Platform to build on its existing client services in the areas of digital and traditional marketing and advertising, web development, field organizing, grassroots outreach, and more.
