Door County Economic Development Corporation: Manufacturing Day tours are back in 2021, along with celebrations all month long

Annually Door County Manufacturers open their doors and offer tours to students and the general public. The tours are conducted on Manufacturing Day, a day set aside nationally to learn more about the manufacturing industry. This year the event will be held on Friday, October 1st. This year, 11 manufacturing companies throughout the peninsula will be hosting FREE tours that are open to the public. Learn about candle making, fish processing, industrial manufacturing, coffee roasting and much more!

Stop for lunch after a morning of company tours at Sunshine House’s Brat Fry, from 10:30 am – 2:00 pm, $5 includes a brat, chips, soda/water. Located at 55 W. Yew St, in Sturgeon Bay.

Schools throughout the county, including parochial schools and home school educated children, have been sent schedules of the tours and where they can learn more about specific manufacturers. As always, the public is encouraged to attend to learn about careers, locally made products, and manufacturing processes.

Manufacturing Day kicks off a month-long celebration beginning on Thursday, September 29th, with an Open House at NWTC, Sturgeon Bay campus, followed by Mobile Career Labs in Sister Bay (September 30th) and Sturgeon Bay (October 1st). The Career Labs are a ‘one-stop-shop’ to learn about and apply for jobs available in the county.

The month continues with an event for manufacturers, educational promotions, events for school children, and, a special at Bridge Up Brewing–discounted beer for manufacturing employees.
