Dept. of Workforce Development: Wisconsin’s unemployment rate remains at 3.8% in February; jobs decline over the month

MADISON – The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) today released the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) preliminary employment estimates for the month of February 2021. The data shows that Wisconsin’s total non-farm jobs declined by 4,500 over the month, while private-sector jobs declined by 1,000 over the same time period. Wisconsin’s unemployment rate in February was 3.8 percent, while the national
unemployment rate in February was 6.2 percent.


• Place of Residence Data: Wisconsin’s labor force participation rate in February was 65.6, 4.2 percent higher than the national rate of 61.4 percent. Wisconsin’s unemployment rate in February was 3.8 percent, while the national unemployment rate was 6.2 percent in the same month.


• Place of Work Data: Wisconsin private-sector jobs declined by 1,000 in the month of February while total non-farm jobs declined by 4,500 over the same period.
