La Crosse County, WI (June 2021): Last month, La Crosse Local and Bao Xiong, founder of the For Independent Hmong Farmers Corp. kicked off an area fundraiser in support of Hmong farmers and vendors hit hard by the pandemic.
As part of the nonprofit campaign to help bring awareness and raise funds for the Hmong farmers this year, they partnered with Dylan Overhouse Productions, and Mike Makes to produce the cooking show “Cooking With Bao”.
Cooking With Bao is a limited series cooking show featuring various dishes including Hmong and Hmong American recipes, using ingredients that you can commonly find at local farmers markets and co-ops.
Guest hosts include Mario Youakim of Sabadash App, Mayor of La Crosse Mitch Reynolds, Gus Fimple of Aris Global Imports, Josh Dumale of wildly popular donut business, The Dirty Dozen, and local foodie Abram Dyke of Abe’s Raves.

Interested community members may donate online at GoFundMe or download the Sabadash App & purchase the “Dinner for Six” Sweepstakes featuring various dishes including Hmong and Hmong American recipes.
Money raised through the “Cooking with Bao” fundraiser will go directly to Hmong farmers to help relieve them of some of the financial impacts from the pandemic, which for many, had no aid to help them throughout the year.
